@ExplodinBeef Interesting! I haven't seen a lot of follow through on these types of posts but I guess there's still people who are looking for games in there. Really cool that you give more games a chance as well!
English

I personally love these posts. I get to see games the algorithm has deemed not fit for me. If you see this post and you've got a demo or play test up. Share that shit and I'll play it on stream.

does anyone else feel like these "share your game in the comments" or "looking for games to repost" influencers are just thriving off of the engagement from desperate indie devs?
English

@krayfishkarl Yeah, I mean if they follow through or actually show themselves playing I can appreciate that. It hasn't been the case with most of the account's I've seen though.
English

@TeekoGame Some people definitely do that. I do still believe sharing your game still helps - you just have to do it with the people who are more likely to actually follow through.
English

@PrismarchGame yeah, there is some truth to that. It can be beneficial to a degree but at the end of the day it will become a loop. Their audience is filled with devs rather than those that could actually buy their game. If anything they will always benefit the most from haver more devs follow.
English

@TeekoGame Of course they are. They are growing their accounts without actually creating anything themselves, so they thrive off indie content as well. But you point it out and you're the bad guy because they're 'helping so many indies'. To a degree its a mutually beneficial relationship.
English

@TeekoGame i never saw the point in those posts tbh. no one is going to click on them to find games
English

@zylphe_renuis Honestly you've said it all. I feel the same way, it would at least be nice if these other accounts tried the games. That's why a twitch streamer or youtuber is a whole other type of influencer, they are not just clicking a retweet button, they have to put in some effort.
English

@TeekoGame Personally, I find it best to ask for feedback directly from the player base during closed/Early Access.
If all the SNS accounts doing is just retweeting without any genuine hype then it all feels like a bluster doesn't it?
English

@QuietFSoftware yeah, or like, would make sense if they had a post actually playing any of the games they share so it's not all just talk.
English

@TeekoGame it very much feels that way. I actively avoid those posts unless they are explicitly requesting a type of game or something new they want to play.
English

@CephOfTheSea Interesting, I didn't know it was a thing with Vtubers as well.
English

@TeekoGame It's a similar thing happens in the vtuber scene sadly.
I've also seen an uptick on "bots" and other accounts that just copy/paste popular post and "engagement" bait as well.
Sucks to hear it's happening to indie devs too.
English

@zylphe_renuis Definitely! I agree with everything you just said. I'm more referring to twitter accounts that make posts every week telling people to share their game in the comments, and that's pretty much all they do.
English

@TeekoGame Without influencers, how else will the devs push out a product with little to no marketing? People want to see live first impressions rather than just buy a game & have buyers remorse. Money getting tight consumers & influencers know that.
What better way to Twitch Partner push.

It's been:
7 years since the idea.
5 years since the prototype.
5 years since the announcement.
1,5 year since the demo.
If you want to make a good game expect it take a looooot of time. 🐑🌿

@Maxwell_Kenway Thanks for all the advice Maxwell! I just started posting consistently two weeks ago and still learning, this and my previous post I just made jokingly :)
English

Well, you need to setup a strategy or else it’s bound to fail. This is not meant to discourage you, but a pointer in a direction. I still don’t know what’s your game and would need to investigate further. If you would have linked the info to your game within the comment I already would have visited the store page and let you know if I added it to my wishlist. Just saying, sometimes going an extra step could help you out by pushing people in the right direction 😉 wish you success with your game. Stay strong and follow your dream.
English

so I guess everyone is just using their free will to completely destroy me in the comments of my previous post
Hamza Ayub@humza_official
@TeekoGame 🤣🤣.. what's your marketing strategy?
English

@TeekoGame And only people who ever notice are other game devs xd
Gotta support the colleagues!
English

@TeekoGame Unfortunately i feel the same way and i hate it but honestly we shouldnt really feel bad for sdvertising something we believe in. I mean i dont feel this way when i recommend someone a media that i enjoyed too
English

Anyways, here's a cool tower defense meets platformer game you should definitely check out 👀

@TeekoGame I can’t imagine marketing a game on Steam.
There’s literally hundreds if not more games released every week it seems like. You could have a true gem but if it doesn’t get traction the second it launches it will be buried in everything else
