Wife and I started cleaning up mom's house. Mom had a thing for pinecones and wicker baskets. Her living room was a fire hazard. We filled 2 yard-waste cans, and donated all the wicker to Goodwill. We weren't able to do much while she was still alive, because she'd freak out.

@TheKJA As someone who disagrees with the idea of a California Burrito (literally just a carne asada burrito with $0.50 of fries packed into an oversized tortilla and they charge $5 more for it) I'm not impressed. Plus, Mexican food is basically crap unless you're close to the border.

And after a day of hiking around the dunes, I stopped at a little dive cafe in Blanca, CO, for a green-chile smothered "slopper" burger. Perfect way to end the adventure.

@BrotherElyte @best_clips__ If you can't stay with them, visit as often as possible. Don't have a schedule because they'll know when you show up, and do everything right before you visit. Random days/times.

@best_clips__ This is something that happens all the time in hospitals and nursing homes. I encourage every family whom has someone they love in a facility to always have someone stay with them. We have too many people as Doctors and nurses whom shouldn't be. It's about money 🤷🏿‍♂️

@GettingCooked I was 2nd shift lead in a fab shop. Front office was locked after 5pm. Certain items were stored up front, but I had a key. Went in to grab a couple things, and left my keys on the clerk's desk. Had to pop the hinge pins on a door to get them back. Boss was not amused.

Funny story: the door handle to the garage broke, and I had to climb in through a window, pop of the hinges and pry the door open. Even better, when I called the missus for help pushing the door in, she ignored me and went on talking with her sister. 5 times I rang. 5 times.

@PenelopeSalem @cecegkh Rephrase that. If I show up to teach every day, but make no attempt to teach my students anything, will I still get paid? Unfortunately, there is probably a Teacher's Union advocate who will say yes.

@cecegkh That is when the teacher should ask, "If I come to work 0% of the time, would you still pay me 50% of my salary?" That is one of the OTHER lessons these kids need to be taught about life be getting a 0 for 0% work completed.

Teacher receives zero work from a student. Gives the student a 0. Admin: ‘Nope — give them a 50.’ This is real. And it’s happening in schools right now. No effort = half credit. We were told to give them a 50 because we don’t want the student feeling defeated. 🤬 I refused to give the a 50 for a zero effort….absolutely refused! I was called into the office where I was confronted by the Principal, Superintendent and a couple of other board members. They wanted to understand why I refused to follow the 50 for 0 policy. I quickly told them I became a teacher to educate children. It’s my job to teach and evaluate what my students learn, not to pass them on without making sure they have a solid foundation. The Superintendent then said that a 50 is still a failing grade, and I said “yes sir, and when a paper earns a 50 failing grade that is what they will receive, but if a paper earns a 0 then that is the grade they will receive”. How exactly does giving students half credit for no effort prepare kids for reality?

@MichelleyDLC I've spent time in Kettleman. A long time ago my buddy was getting ready to start college in upstate California. So he drug me along to check it out. His VW Bug blew a piston about a mile from Kettlemen. We spent 8 hours there waiting for his dad with a VW tow-bar. 100°+

@Terry_Sieving This was in Kettleman City. I was just passing thru so didn’t get the free donut. 😂. Gas is always a bit higher here since it’s in the middle of nowhere. I’ve been filling up at Costco which seems to have the lowest prices.

Rebecca went up to Seattle to spend the weekend with her 96-year-old mother, and ALL of her brothers and sisters were there. This is the first time all the siblings have been together in six and a half years.
