Troubling context for the Red Sox: 57 teams in the Wild Card Era have started 2-7 (or worse) with a -15 run differential (or worse) through 9 games. Of those 57 teams, 54 of them -- 94.7% -- missed the postseason. Not a single one advanced to the World Series.
