9 years ago today, Captain Ryan K. Iannelli was killed in action in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Capt Iannelli paid the ultimate sacrifice while conducting combat operations as a Cobra pilot. His sacrifice validates the legacy we must each uphold every day through our actions.

This #SacrificeSunday, we honor 1st Lieutenant Baldomero Lopez. The first photo was taken of Lt. Lopez minutes before his death. It depicts him demonstrating the fighter leader concept as he leads his Marines from the front over the defenses on the beaches of Inchon, Korea.
