Agree with FIRST MAN being Gosling’s best. He turns off all of his habits and dispenses with all the tools that’s made him a star to deliver a performance that is wholly devoid of himself or his persona. It’s a portrait of dynamic austerity.

I enjoyed Project Hail Mary, but there’s a scene where something tragic happens and Gosling is told he is needed for what is essentially a suicide mission… and he instantly fires off about 9 jokes and I just thought would it fucking kill this film to be even 20% more serious?

It’s a disservice to Michael B. Jordan and all the Best Actor nominees to continue peddling the lie that Chalamet lost because of his comments on opera and ballet. Voting had closed. Jordan deservedly won because his performance and presence garnered more enthusiasm from voters.
