The International mass spectrometry community mourns the loss of one of its giants with the passing of Jean Futrell. Gentleman, innovator, inspirator and mentor to many mass spectrometrists across the globe. But above all we have lost a dear friend.

In Feb 2019 in Auckland (after a glass of wine or two), @anzsms first discussed the possibility of hosting @imsc2024 with @TheIMSF. Today, 5 and a half years later, the conference starts in Melbourne. Looking forward to a great week and seeing many friends and colleagues.
