The franchise characters are important but they ain't what make resident evil. It can work without them.

Rebecca was briefly in 1 so even she wasn't completely new.

It's crazy every adaptation of any game or book always get criticized of it's not being accurate enough and people agree that it's bad and it should be more acurate to the source material but for some reason Resident Evil sould not get a faithful adaptation !?
