To play pro sports you have to be fearless.
Standing on the sidelines during an NFL game is a surreal experience if you've never done it before. TV truly doesn't capture the speed and physicality of the sport.
As for baseball, I can't wrap my brain around how hitters can stand in the box and stare down a 100 mph fastball... let alone all the nasty junk pitchers throw.
I know what its like on the field but I wonder... What takes more courage:

My take on the Acho/Fournette battle: I know more players, current and former, who are completely uninteresting, uninsightful, or have downright stupid takes and opinions about the game.
I also know plenty of people who never played a snap but have terrific perspective and far more interesting opinions.
Exhibit A: My sideline reporter @AKinkhabwala. Never played, but one of the smartest, most plugged in non football players I’ve ever been around. She brings a totally unique and nuanced perspective. I’d much rather have a real football conversation with her than many players who did suit up.
The media is a completely different arena. The ability to have an opinion and actually articulate that opinion is a skill, just like playing running back or linebacker.
I’m MORE impressed by the players who weren’t stars that have built real media careers DESPITE not having the built in advantages of star power. The ones that didn’t get to skip the line. They had to earn it and figure out a way to climb to the top of another food chain.
The “you didn’t play enough” or “you weren’t a star” gatekeeping is weak. Nothing wrong with Fournette's career and I don’t have a problem with @EmmanuelAcho defending himself either. Once you’re done with the game and want to get into this biz, you have to go to battle with your mouthpiece, form real opinions, add insight or just be downright entertaining, but insignificant personal attacks?
Curious... Do you have to have had a great career to be good in the entertainment business?

It was common practice in the 1970’s, 80’s and even the early 90’s to wash your windshield when you stopped for gas every week. Bugs galore covered the windshield and front grill on your vehicle. That’s not the case anymore. It’s like the bugs have simply disappeared. No bees, no gnats, no flys or moths. Our skies are being poisoned and killing off the insects. When was the last time you saw snail trails going across the concrete walkway after a heavy rain? When was the last time you saw earthworms wiggling across your driveway after a nice rainstorm? Our skies are being poisoned and contaminating the earths soil and killing them. Eczema and psoriasis are also becoming the norm.
