@Rossinman Thanks, @Rossinman , I've been doing research on NLT and epistemic justification and I've had a hard time finding fruitful resources.
English

@DoloresGMorris Oof, I had to go through this two years ago after a storm blew over a tree and it's roots ripped up my drain field. It wasn't fun and it wasn't cheap to fix.

I’m asking for sanctions against Nigeria until their persecution of Christians stops. But a number of people are responding by saying sanctions don’t work.
If that’s you, I have 2 requests for you.
#1 If they don’t work then they’re not gonna hurt anything so maybe you shouldn’t get in the way. Besides, it is the people who have been working to help these believers in Nigeria, patching their wounds, burying their children, rebuilding their homes, who are asking for sanctions. Maybe they know more about it than you do.
#2 If you believe they don’t work and also think the mass murder of our brothers and sisters in Nigeria should be stopped then I encourage you to go to equippingthepersecuted.org and to donate money because money will actually help them in Nigeria.

@RyanBea64600306 @alisa_childers As a "reformed Christian," where are "War crimes" referenced in scripture, either explicitly or implicitly? If not, where is the source of this truth you fervently pursue?
English

I’d recommend John Mearsheimer’s book “The Israel Lobby”, but here’s a discussion on the subject. It’s become “uncool” because people are waking up to facts about a foreign Country’s influence over their own, and the war crimes being committed in Gaza. It’s not “tragic”, it’s a reality that’s come to fruition due to the facts, the truth. As a Christian, the truth is something that I must pursue no matter where it leads me.

@magnabosco @michaelshermer How did you assess the quality of that reason?
English

@michaelshermer Mike, I think you’ve done far more to contribute to this violence than any person who you might deem “woke”. You and others who have instigated division in our country and beyond have blood on your hands.

@_ForceMajeure_1 @peterboghossian @elonmusk @grok Would you claim that the knowledge of the things we know or the method by which we come to know them evolves?
English

@_ForceMajeure_1 @peterboghossian @elonmusk @grok I wouldn't quite frame it that way. I view epistemology, ethics, and metaphysics to be mutually dependent. While I don't want to say that they evolve, I would say that they are causally dependent on each other.
English

@peterboghossian @elonmusk @grok Your statement assumes both a moral and metaphysical position, rendering it self-contradictory. While I agree with you in spirit, I find that, despite our best efforts, they are all interdependent.

@carmenjoyimes @WokePreacherTV While the gospel assuredly holds political/social implications, why is it that the majority of liberation theologians turn to marxian theories rather than the panoply of sociopolical theories already in existence? Coincidence?
English

@WokePreacherTV Liberation theology offers striking insights into things my community missed about the Bible. For example, God doesn't just rescue the SOULS of the Israelites or save them from SIN but from physical slavery and oppression. The gospel has political/social implications.

WARNING: I've been "exposed" as a person who reads widely and is willing to learn from Black Christian authors. You should probably avoid me from now on because I might say something that makes you think.

@SpeedWatkins They are present a bleak rendering of the world and what it means to be human. I recall reading those selections early in my atheist days and being left with a powerful insight into the depravity of humanity. I had to turn to science fiction for some modicum of hope for humanity.
English

This betrays a total lack of familiarity with literature’s crisis of faith/secular humanism. Modern writers especially explore meaning can look like after the “death of God.”

There is literally nothing noble, inspiring, or motivating about Atheism. It's a sick and empty ideology. Christianity on the other hand has inspired some of the greatest works of literature to ever exist.

@dreverettpiper @megbasham @redeemed_zoomer Further, are you granting Lewis and Spurgeon the same level of apostolic authority as Paul? Was this meant to shift the argument to the authority of the claimant, or were you pulling names out of a hat? Sophistry.
English

The arrogance of some of these young men like @redeemed_zoomer is astounding. One suspects they’d presume to lecture CS Lewis on how to write, Spurgeon on how to preach, and Paul himself on how to evangelize. Just wait for it.. some know-it-all response is inevitably forthcoming 😉
English

Dude, no one accused Gavin Ortlund of being a false teacher. That is actually slander. You’re just throwing out wildly general, childish accusations. I had a very specific critique of Ortlund regarding his handling of A political topic—climate change.
Though I could critique his stance on Christians needing to get COVID vaccines to love their neighbors, his related argument that churches like John MacArthur’s were wrong to defy the government and stay open during COVID, and other issues where he defers to the state and “consensus.”
I understand you’re a fan, but this is not calling him a false teacher, it’s critiquing a presentation.
And no, I’m not an apologist, so I don’t focus on things like nestorianism. As I said, I only covered when he started addressing issues in my field, news and politics.
Redeemed Zoomer 👑@redeemed_zoomer
Ok so @megbasham doesn’t know basic Christology but knows enough to accuse folks like Ortlund of being false teachers for agreeing with Democrats on a few issues occasionally
English

@dreverettpiper @megbasham @redeemed_zoomer Your response is an appeal to authority, and it doesn't address the content of the argument. The age of the person presenting an argument does not affect the quality of the argument. The truth value of the content if the argument does. Your claim is a red herring.
English

@deepfates If nature + chance can yield a work such as Hamlet, how are we to trust the timeless truths if they were merely expressions of natural processes. In this view, a monkey's crayon drawing would be of equal worth, and the significance of Hanlet for the original premise is undermined
English

@deepfates While this is a decent couterexample to natural design, it also serves as a supporting claim to the evolutionary argument against naturalism.

@elveryTTb @SpeedWatkins Were those goalposts heavy when you moved them?

(A) Anyone who has an abortion murders a child. (B) Anyone who murders a child should be punished by the state, hence, (C) anyone who has an abortion should be punished by the state. To be clear, A&B entail C, so Pro-Life *must* want the state to punish women who have abortions.
