@timatkin Might not be true that he has died. No one else has announced it.

Sorry but this is all the wrong way round. The Tempest should be much higher. Oh brave new world. And Julius Caesar shouldn’t be languishing behind Antony and Cleopatra. And I honestly don’t think I can watch Midsummer Night’s Dream again. Ever. theguardian.com/stage/ng-inter…

@DalrympleWill @praddenkeefe @FT It’s brilliant. Finished it in two days. Superb writing. In depth research. Bit like your books, if I may say so.

What a game this @ExeterChiefs @SaintsRugby game has been!! I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times .. this Saints team are just so bloody good, no stress, no panic, back themselves & go find the winning try.
Pollock was stupidly good off the bench!!

Love this. Shakespeare Bought One Property in London. In Blackfriars. Now We Know Exactly Where. And his granddaughter who inherited it sold it just before the whole area was destroyed in the Great Fire nytimes.com/2026/04/15/wor…

@BallouxFrancois @andycorneys Not a credible journalist. Lost my respect a long time ago.
English

This article is utter tosh, whatever one's position on Trump, Pope Leo XIV, or the morality of the Iran war. Essentially every paragraph is nonsense. It reads like borderline satire at times. One example of the idiocy of the piece among others, I quote "... 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘴", which is a truly insane thing to write, given that the first salvo of the war was literally a double-tap on a school that killed ~150 schoolgirls.
It's puzzling this embarrassing piece passed an editor at the Times.

@HeTalksRugby Yes, fair point. But he’s been the most successful over there. Arundell wasn’t.
English

Completely different that though isn’t it. You can choose the lifestyle & money in between the cycles but you’re more than able to come back before the World Cup & make yourself available, Lawes has just done it, Marchant another, Arundell done it last year .. Tom has gone the other way, so again - it’s on them.
English

@HeTalksRugby I suspect it’s partly about money. But if Harry Kane can play for Bayern and England….
English

Getting better all the time & the Prem overall is a brilliant product as a result of the protection it gets, will get even better with the ring fencing as it will attract more investment into Clubs. In an ideal world you’d have Tom & Jack in the squad of course you would, but people make out it’s Englands decision & fail to recognise it’s a 2 way street, they could both very easily decide to come back & they’d be available for selection.
English

@HeTalksRugby Take your point. But the Springboks are focused on winning. Nothing else. Tom Willis would bring a lot to the back row. Agree tricky re Prem, bury it’s not in great financial shape anyway.
English

Where not the Springboks & they don’t have a domestic competition to protect like we do & the RFU continue to make the correct decision to protect the Prem. Every player knows the gig, Tom Willis in particular has turned his back on it, despite having a central contract. Jack is a bit different but each to their own, I respect their decisions to play where they currently/next season.
English

@HeTalksRugby True. But the Springboks pick players playing overseas. He’s our best open side.
English

@timatkin If they wanted to play for England they’d be in the Prem, they clearly aren’t interested - fair play to them both, not losing sleep over them & we have more than enough to choose from.
