The PACE Clinic is helping Nova Scotians get the care they need by speeding up how doctors are credentialed so they can get to work in our province faster. That means more doctors practicing in Nova Scotia and more care for Nova Scotians. Learn how this innovative clinic works.

94% of Nova Scotians are now attached to primary care. There’s more work ahead, and our team is focused on keeping that momentum going with more funding for healthcare in this year’s budget.

Currently Canada doesn't have the ability to launch space projects on our own, instead relying on the United States. That means turning south for getting satellites into orbit. With this project, that will change. I'm happy to see this investment being made in Nova Scotia, with the new launch pad expected to come into operation by 2028. This is an important investment for Canadian sovereignty. Another reason why Nova Scotia is the defence capital of Canada. 🇨🇦

Congratulations to the Ivor MacDonald Memorial Arena in Thorburn on being selected as a 2026 Provincial & Territorial Finalist for Kraft Hockeyville! Such a great rink. Lots of memories there. Communities like Thorburn show just how strong the spirit of hockey is in Nova Scotia. Here’s hoping you advance to the final round. Nova Scotia is cheering you on! 🇨🇦

For too long, menopause care has been overlooked. Our government is changing that by moving forward with Atlantic Canada’s first Menopause Centre of Excellence right here in Nova Scotia. This clinic will bring specialized care to Nova Scotian women and help close a gap in our healthcare system. Because better healthcare means supporting Nova Scotians at every stage of life.

This week I was delighted to meet a physician here in Halifax, Dr. Simeon Adesola, whose journey to Nova Scotia started with a message from his mom and a news article about the new Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence. Today he’s a licensed family doctor building his practice here in our province. Our government was proud to start the PACE Clinic to help internationally trained physicians bring their skills to Nova Scotia, and help more Nova Scotians get the care they need. Check out Dr. Adesola’s story below: “One evening in late 2024, I received an article link from my mum in New Brunswick in which Tim Houston was announcing the launch of a new route to licensure for internationally trained physicians - The PACE Clinic. This was part of an effort to increase the number of family physicians in Nova Scotia. At the time, I was working in South Africa, having completed my medical degree at the University of Cape Town some years before. It seemed like an exciting route to enter the Canadian medical space and finally be closer to my family. I contacted the team and continued to send my CV updates until I received an opportunity to formally apply a few months later. The rest of the process was filled with prayer and patience until a selection email in July that made my year. I started the PACE assessment program and met the most amazing patients, physician candidates, support staff, fully licensed physician assessors and a wonderful family practice nurse. After a few months of hardwork, I completed the program. Further correspondence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia followed and my license was approved. I am now building my practice as a family physician at a great clinic in Halifax and getting into the East Coast vibe. What’s more? I get to work in an inspiring team of professionals. I love it here! What a full circle moment it was to meet Tim Houston in person. I am so grateful to the province for the efforts at recruiting new doctors to the province. Over the past few years there has been a significant decrease in the number of Nova Scotians in need of a family physician. It really is encouraging to work in a province whose government understands the importance of addressing this need and is committed to developing creative approaches for this. The PACE program is one of these examples and it’s clearly paying off! Of course, I am also thankful to my mum for sending me the article and to God for the strength through the process. I’m hoping that my story inspires other internationally trained physicians seeking a space in the province. It really is possible!”

Congratulations to Elmsdale’s own Hannah Cole on an incredible milestone in her motocross career! Hannah has been named to the Honda Canada GDR Fox Racing Team, one of the top teams in the country. Her dedication, grit, and countless hours of hard work have earned her this exciting opportunity. It’s inspiring to see athletes like Hannah breaking barriers and helping grow women’s motocross while proudly representing our province on the national stage. Wishing you the very best this season, Hannah. We’ll be cheering you on when the gate drops!

Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Spencer and the team at Dartmouth General Hospital. A medical device developed right here in Nova Scotia by Ring Rescue Inc. will be featured on HBO Max’s The Pitt this week. What started as a practical solution for emergency rooms is now being used across North America—and even making its way onto television. Great to see Nova Scotia innovation getting the recognition it deserves. 👏

Nova Scotians voiced their concerns about parts of this year’s budget. After listening, we are restoring funding for supports for people with disabilities, seniors, and students pursuing education. These programs make a real difference in people’s lives, and protecting them is the right thing to do. We never intended to negatively impact those who rely on the disability support system in Nova Scotia. The disability support system in Nova Scotia is undergoing significant changes as we implement the Remedy, which moves to an individualized funding model. This was ordered by the courts in 2021 and is a good thing, but it became clear more time was needed to ensure this transition is successful. We will take this time. We are making record investments in healthcare, infrastructure, and education. We’re investing $66 million in arts and culture this year, which is more than when we formed government. We’ll continue to invest in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia’s economy has to grow. Across Canada, provinces are facing deficits and slower revenue growth. And we’re not immune. To unlock our full potential, we need new sources of revenue that allow us to build and grow. In a time of growing global uncertainty, saying yes to developing our own natural resources will make Nova Scotia stronger, more resilient, and more self-reliant. More jobs. Greater investment in our communities. Lower energy prices.

We’re taking action to protect Nova Scotians. Our government is investing $6.8 million to secure four dedicated fixed-wing water bombers for wildfire response, based right here in Nova Scotia. That means faster response times, stronger protection for our communities, and better support for the crews on the ground. With wildfire seasons becoming more intense, we’re making sure Nova Scotia is prepared.

Our government continues to invest in affordable housing for Nova Scotians. Funding for programs that support affordable housing owned by non-profit groups is up 80 per cent. That means more homes built, more units repaired, and more support for community organizations doing the work on the ground. We’re focused on increasing supply, supporting partners, and making sure more Nova Scotians have a safe, affordable place to call home.

Nova Scotians deserve reliable power, fair rates, and real choice. For too long, one company has controlled the system. More competition in our energy market means better service, more options, and lower costs over time. With the announcement last week, it's finally happening. Real competition for Nova Scotians to finally have a choice in who they get energy from.
