@Timmah621 Thanks for sharing @Timmah621. So lovely to see your family initiation, and so glad you got a win!

So the real problem is, as it has been all season, that the team has no idea how to go about scoring goals. #COYS

Didn’t look a foul in the stadium. Apoplectic now I’ve seen the VT. Jesus, he’s got his hands up but he’s just protecting his space and Gabriel’s dive is one of those that actually accentuates how much of a nothing burger the ‘push’ is. #robbed #COYS #TOTARS

Randal Kolo Muani is denied a second after this push on Gabriel ❌

1. Tel should finish that.
2. Any reason Willock not booked for diving in the box?

For the second half. Dom, yes, obviously. But also Xavi and Palinha. Props. #COYS

In their own way, that was rubbish from all of Yves (caught in possession), Radu (no sort of attempted block) and Vicario (still can’t work out how he’s so comprehensively beaten from there, on that angle, off Cherki’s weak foot). Rubbish. We just have to be better. #COYS

@cyberistia Yes, and (like others in the comments) VDV too in a different way. VDV is like a forward who scores 4 worldies a year but misses 20 tap-ins. He makes incredible last ditch tackles enabled by his speed, but can’t defend perfectly normal crosses/passes. So, 2 not great CBs….

Romero is held up by some as our saviour. Even labelled world class. And yes, he has popped up with the odd semi important goal, so credit where it’s due.
But defending is his primary job, and that’s where the argument falls apart. If he actually did his defensive duties properly, consistently and intelligently, then maybe we could talk about him being one of the best centre backs in the world.
The reality is we all watch him every week. We see the rash decisions, the positional lapses, the unnecessary chaos. Truly world class defenders don’t come with that level of volatility. They bring calm, control and reliability. They make the players around them better. Too often, he does the opposite.
Winning a World Cup also does not automatically make you world class. It’s a team achievement, shaped by systems, protection and moments. Plenty of good players have medals. Very few are genuinely elite over week after week of club football. You don’t get that status on reputation or international tournaments alone.
And there’s another uncomfortable truth. If Romero genuinely was one of the very best defenders in the world, he wouldn’t still be at Spurs. He would already be leading the back line of a club consistently competing for the biggest honours, not being talked up as a saviour in a team that regularly concedes soft goals.
He’s a good player. On his day, even a very good one. But world class defenders are defined by consistency, discipline and control. Until he delivers those traits week in, week out, that label simply doesn’t fit.

@LilywhiteLab Pre-ACL Bentancur was a complete midfielder to build a team around. Sadly no longer. The injury has reduced him. I love Palinha’s aggression, but he’s not a boss long term. Pairing Gallagher with any of Sarr, Bergvall or Gray brings energy & ball carrying through the middle.
English

This isn’t about Gallagher, as I spoke about in my video earlier I actually think he’s a good player
It’s the fact that the club are clogging up the squad with profiles we don’t need
And neglecting everything else we do need to improve our team
Could Gallagher be slightly better than what we have? Maybe?
But what does that mean for the next windows, we’ve just signed Bentancur to a new contract, we have Sarr, Bergvall and Gray, Bissouma still hasn’t been shifted
We now need to shift at least 2 maybe 3 of these and that’s before we can even solve the ACTUAL issue with our midfield
Signings like these just set us back years and then everyone complains when we can’t shift our dead wood
English

@charries Hi mate. Enjoy the win. Game of two halves, and we left ourselves too much to do….
English

Watkins got away with a proper foul on Palhinha. I’m afraid we need to do as others do and start calling for the fouls a bit more and putting the refs under pressure. I hate it, but if you can’t beat’em…. #TOTAVL
