The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded a Veni grant to our Action Chair @TimRiswick for his project ‘Unravelling Health Inequalities. The Historical Roots of Inequality in Death and Disease in West-European Port Cities, 1850-1950’ at Radboud University. ⬇️🧵

📢 1st Call for Project Proposals Host Institutes Description To be able to have more impact GREATLEAP opens a Call for Proposals for Host Institutes to create a small project for a visiting scholar during their Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM). 🧵⬇️

The analysis of unique individual-level data on diseases such as tuberculosis, measles, smallpox, and cholera will provide new knowledge on the causes of inequalities in health. It will enable the study of how and why health disparities emerged.

In short my project adopts an innovative comparative approach to the study of determinants of health inequalities in the port cities Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Glasgow in the period 1850-1950.

Extremely happy to receive a Veni-grant from the Dutch Research Council to work on inequality in health (185-1950) in the next years!

NWO has awarded Veni funding of up to EUR 320,000 to 174 promising researchers from across the full breadth of science. This will allow the laureates to further develop their own research ideas over the next three years. nwo.nl/en/news/from-a…
