@nocontextmemes I’ve read a book about having to make a choice like this. Effectively, the guy decides the correct move is to kill everyone because everyone on the track was ultimately doomed and the only person he could truly save was the next one who would have to make the choice after him.

@Ericrse37986 It’s the ads. They see ads for statewide candidates far more often and pay more attention to the races. Downballot races get far less attention, so the winner is usually the one with the most name recognition.

In Senate and other statewide primaries, Dem primary voters seemed to prefer progressives. In House primaries, they seemed to want the Starmerization of the Dem Party. Why is this the case?

@Charie92514086 @Rainmaker1973 This happens in the book A Vicious Reverie. Most of the book takes place on a toroidal planet that was artificially created. The chaotic weather and gravity make people avoid it, so the planet gets used for all kinds of secret experiments. One of my favorite novels.

@Rainmaker1973 That is such a mind bending concept,the idea of a "Toroidal Planet" sounds like something straight out of a high concept sci-fi novel, but the fact that it holds up under theoretical physics makes it even cooler.

Fun fact. According to the laws of physics, a donut-shaped (toroidal) planet is theoretically possible. To remain stable, such a planet would need to spin extremely rapidly — resulting in days that last only a few hours instead of 24. This fast rotation would create strong centrifugal forces that counteract gravity and prevent the central hole from collapsing. Gravity on this world would vary dramatically: it would feel roughly twice as strong near the “poles” (the inner and outer edges of the ring) compared to the equatorial regions. The Moon could still orbit the planet successfully, provided it stays at a safe distance. Sunlight distribution would also be unusual. Without axial tilt, the inner rim of the donut might receive little to no direct sunlight, while the outer rim would be exposed to intense solar radiation. This would create extreme temperature differences and potentially violent weather patterns. With the right amount of tilt, however, both the inner and outer surfaces could receive more balanced sunlight. That said, a naturally forming donut-shaped planet is extremely unlikely. It would require very specific conditions during formation and would probably become unstable over long geological timescales. Such a world would almost certainly need to be artificially engineered by a highly advanced civilization.

@ME_Politics_ Cooper is much more popular than Mills and has a much better electability argument. Most importantly, while Cooper is old, he’s “only” 68, which doesn’t seem to be too old in voters’ minds. It’s actually a great test case of how old is considered too old to run for Senate.

@zweiwalker89607 The worst part is that, in the show, they have no reason to believe killing the Night King will destroy all the White Walkers. They see once that killing a White Walker kills the wights it made and just decide killing the king will eliminate them all. And they're right.

The idea that the Others have a big bad overlord you can kill to immediately destroy all of them and end the threat is so antithetical to Martin's approach to fantasy and incongruent with his inspirations that it simply cannot be how Book Canon plays out.
