@K01eC @HokuPLG Hi Kole! I am designing the game. My wife is Thai and I speak Thai (I love Thailand) and the two artists on the game are Thai and the Animation studio is in Thailand. The lead engineer is from Indonesia.

Watching you play the game was SUPER helpful!! We just uploaded a new version of the Demo to Steam today that has much clearer instructions in the Ghost Mode (where you fly around as Pim). Also we removed the "Open for Business signs" which were causing a little confusion. Thanks for hanging in there even with the difficulties. It was great watching you play and I'm so glad you liked it. I can't wait for you to play the full game. We'll get it done as soon as we can and it will be in Thai too! (and on Mobile for the Thai audience).

Thanks for saying the game is pretty and well made. A lot of love and heart has been poured into the game, not just by me but by the whole team. Perhaps you're right and I should have taken the voice out for the demo. That's a tough call because I see it as an integral part of the ultimate game but... I take your point. Most people quite understandably don't really know or care about the realities of bootstrapping indie development. I hope people will judge the game on it's own merits when it is released, and if people have deep objections to the use of any AI tools when prototyping I certainly understand and respect that. Seems like we've pretty much said everything. I appreciate the courteous interchange.

Set in a Thai river village, Dancing With Ghosts is an interactive story about grief, friendship, and finding joy in life again. "As Pim the ghost, players search for villagers with troubled thoughts, and help them by catching and delivering the 'heart-light' they need".

I hear you Plush Papi. I understand and appreciate your motivations. I just ask you to keep in mind that this isn't the game. This is simply a prototyping demo that allows us to get funding so we can build the game. It is all self funded so far and I have run out of money and had to let go most of the team. Now it's just me (with a fulltime job) and one engineer. Hopefully participating means helping indie developers get to a point where they can afford live voice in final products, since that's really the ultimate goal. To your point about doing it other ways, honestly, the only way I could iterate on the dialogue as fast and efficiently as I need to while prototyping, and still have voice that I can choreograph animations to would be to record my own voice...not be great as an old guy for two girl characters, and still way slower. Also, I don't believe in having other people work and not paying them. I pay good salaries and offer health benefits - which is why I ran out of money ;) All funded on a personal loan. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts and my sincere apologies if I've offended you. Just trying to bootstrap my way to getting this out there.

@ToejamGreg @_wholesomegames "Placeholder" is not the same thing as disclosing the use of AI, I feel like you know that. There are so many ways to add placeholder voices that do not include AI in your game without explicitly saying it. Leaving it vague stops people from deciding whether they participate.

@PlushPapi @_wholesomegames On the Kickstarter page there’s photo of the voice talent being auditioned and it says “we have been auditioning for months and is why we need funds” In the demo is a disclaimer up front “voice is placeholder”and in this trailer at the bottom right is a disclaimer about the voice

@_wholesomegames The game seems to heavily use AI for its dialogue, but there's no mention of it on the Steam page or developer site.

@GalvaMaximus We have been thinking we might try once again to look into that. It's a bit complicated because of the situation with the rights on that game. That's why it hasn't happened yet. Need to get lawyers and SEGA folks to agree.

@ToejamGreg Please, is there any possibility of re-releasing Mission to Earth for PC? It's the only game in the series that's harder to access. 🙂

I just saw my friend Evan's post. Even, head of Naughty Dog games is truly one of the very nicest guys you will ever meet. He worked for and with me on Panic on Funkotron way back in the early 90s. Thanks Evan!!
