Rice goal scoring traits are already there too. He’s a match winner, depending on set up and what the game needs of course but for the most part he scores big goals

At this point its a preference of Pedri, Vitinha/Joao Neves or Rice. He’s in that convo.
Weird but would love to know his pre season running test stats. Bet he runs a 2km at 5.50-6.10 - he is beast physically. Only Arsenal midfielder i’ve seen with better endurance is Ramsey.

Rice is a throwback, classic ‘workman’ style player with elite fundamentals. He’s not flashy but does everything to a high level. Nothing about his technique holds him back, he elevates his team. His game intuition is top, his risk assessment in and out of possession are mature.

11 Rice’s vs 11 Valverdes would be a serious watch.
Both players are extremly intelligent off the ball. Knowing when to engage/jockey/shadow. In possession, Valverde edges it with shot technique & accuracy but Rice can carry with precision and speed. Passing is slightly equal.

They have the same engine & ball-striking but Valverde’s reading of the game is a couple of levels better than Szoboszlai so 11 Valverdes would win. Can see it with the penetrating runs he makes offensively and also how he defends space vs man.

@TouchlineOracle And I still see a role for Eze at LW if Odegaard and Havertz can get fit enough to give us some time at 10. Ideally only Trossard and Eze would start there in 'real' games.

Another layer is left side dynamics need to balanced. Hincapie x Trossard is more compatible than Hincapie x Nelli. If Calafiori starts then Nelli or arguably Madueke should play LW.

This is it. The balance is better when you have one of Calafiori or White attacking. Hincapie and Timber are the lockdown defenders. The other two help the attack better

@m_tactician Chrck his defensive numbers last 5 games. Very impressive improvement. More engaged and proactive. He gets it.
