@Tr1plesAlley They didn’t create a new rule for him. Pitchers always got more time in between innings after at-bats and being on base. They actually got way more time before because there was no pitch clock, so he actually gets less time than they did.

Change my view: MLB specifically creating a rule that watered down the novelty of Pat Venditte was a complete joke 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 making it worse by then carving out a special rule to not water down but instead 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵 Shohei Ohtani, who absolutely needs no help

@purpledrank0 @TPPIceman My original tweet at the beginning of this thread was contending the phrasing and implication that because Ohtani is so special we should keep moving the goalposts for him I didn't realize that Roberts was actually defending against a complaint and not making unprovoked comment
