[Our Impact Stories] This week, @TransnetNPA (TNPA) donated a converted 12-metre multipurpose container to Siza Community Care, a non-profit organisation (NPO) in Umlazi that provides nutritious meals to over 130 children living with chronic illnesses. This initiative is part of TNPA’s Corporate Social Investment, which aims to uplift the communities where we operate. The container will assist the NPO in managing the growing number of children they support and will also serve as a secure space for storing essential supplies.

[Media Statement] Transnet National Ports Authority has appointed FFS Tank Terminals as the preferred bidder to refurbish and operate a liquid bulk terminal for a 25-year concession period at the Port of Cape Town. FSS Tank Terminals will finance, construct, operate, and maintain the liquid bulk terminal, and transfer it back to TNPA at the end of the concession period. The work includes upgrading storage tanks to enhance structural integrity and repurposing the existing import pipeline, which is currently used for vegetable and edible oils. Transnet National Ports Authority today welcomed the maiden call of the MV Ocean Legacy, a next-generation LNG-powered Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) at the Port of Durban. This vessel’s arrival comes at a time of exceptional performance in the automotive sector at the Port of Durban, demonstrating a strong demand and improved operational efficiencies within the port’s automotive berths. The 60000 GT vessel was brought into the port in just 36 minutes, an on-time berthing operation made possible by fit-for-purpose tugboats with a bollard pull of 60-70 tonnes, which enable efficient vessel handling. Tugboats are critical marine assets that enable the safe maneuvering of vessels during pilotage operations. #WhenTransnetWorksSouthAfricaThrives

[Media Statement] TNPA BOOST SHIPPING OPERATIONS AMID STRONG CONTAINER GROWTH Transnet National Ports Authority is significantly enhancing its investment in critical port infrastructure with the delivery of eight hydraulic shore tension mooring units aimed at boosting container shipping efficiencies at the ports in Cape Town, Durban and Ngqura. This delivery brings the total number of units that TNPA has taken delivery of to 32 units from an acquisition of 52 units, with the Port of Cape Town boasting the highest number of 14 units. Today’s signing of the Terminal Operator Agreement between TNPA and WASAA CEF JV supports Transnet SOC Ltd’s Reinvent for Growth strategy, which focuses on transforming the business through strategic partnerships and leveraging collaboration between public and private sectors to meet growing market demand. It follows a successful competitive bidding process under Section 56 of the National Ports Act No. 12 of 2005, which led to the Ports Authority appointing the WASAA Gases and Central Energy Fund Joint Venture (JV) as the preferred bidder. The JV will develop, construct, operate, maintain and transfer the liquefied petroleum gas terminal at the Port of Durban. Speaking at the signing ceremony, @transnet_soc Group Chief Executive Michelle Phillips emphasised the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, "This new agreement reflects exactly the type of partnership we envision for the future.
