Obviously Skenes wasn’t good. But a swinging bunt single, a bloop single, two fly balls that the center fielder couldn’t catch and a guy sticking his arm into a pitch isn’t cause for concern. What is cause for concern is Cruz. Maybe my most disliked Pirate ever. Drives me insane.

@kelsey_surmacz4 Yes!!! You nailed it. That is exactly what I expected. I wanted the Pens to trade him because of his great season. When they didn’t, I expected Dubas believed it was repeatable, thus I expected a forty goal season. Otherwise, why keep him. I was a tear it down and rebuild guy.

@TriesHardState I think his career year last season distorted expectations for him. He has always been a good, reliable player when healthy, and his track record in Pittsburgh aligns with that.
But I think some folks expect Guentzel-level goal-scoring stuff from him when that's not who he is.

@TriesHardState Well, I mean, he can still dangle if he really wants to and has the ability to score some nasty goals.
But, more often than not, he scores around the net-front. He has a wicked release, but he doesn't *need* to rely on it to score goals because he scores greasy goals, too.
