This split was fueled by financial disputes, with the departing players reportedly lured by money from the Olympics, which had financially strong sponsors. ​The betrayal left Highlanders' squad severely depleted, but the club was saved by a small group of loyal players who chose to stay. These core loyalists included the late @TymonMabaleka, along with Lawrence Phiri, Josiah Nxumalo, and Douglas "British" Mloyi. Their commitment and leadership were crucial in rebuilding the team from the ground up. @TymonMabaleka, a star player for @HighlanderBosso, was named the first runner-up in the 1979 Soccer Star of the Year awards for the South Zone League. Can't wait for this! @TymonMabaleka was a prolific producer at Gallo Records (later Zimbabwe Music Corporation). @DavidScobie was a noted studio engineer during the same era. Scobie collaborated with Mabaleka, notably on the production of albums by the Zimbabwean band Ilanga, amongst many others!
