@ronaldyakuza @yzispx I believe you misunderstand their oath. It's more akin to marriage than you'd initially believe. Take Watase & Aoyama from Yakuza 5, they're essentially in an unhappy political marriage lol. And Oath Brothers has had a long history of romance coding hehehe

@Unbalancedric @yzispx that's what they meant. it's simply a ridiculous level of mental gymnastics to claim that the writers had these characters call eachother "bro" in a clunky and strange manner, whilst the characters also clearly state they see eachother as actual brothers and swore an oath

I don't wanna be rude but those are some crazy aerobics to justify incest, they consider themselves brothers, they consider kazama a father, that's their step dad, they're step brothers.

@Unbalancedric @yzispx in English you might say "oh brother!" to express exacerbation. but you wouldn't really translate that directly into Japanese with the word kyoudai. the word has different used in different languages and kyoudai isn't really what 2 people who are that close would use that way

@ronaldyakuza @yzispx It's still a way for you to refer to your brother. "Bro" And "brother" are friendly terms in English that don't necessarily mean you're actually related or see each other that way. Similar thing there. Nishiki & Kiryu call each other "kyoudai" because they're equal in rank

@Unbalancedric @yzispx kiryu calls majima "niisan", which doesn't exclusively mean sibling. its often formality and in their case kiryu views majima as having a higher position than him (and is used to calling him that) alternatively "kyoudai" exclusively means sibling, and they literally swore an oath

Especially in this series, calling someone a "brother" means they have a really strong bond. Look at Kiryu & Majima for example. Just because Kiryu calls Majima "brother" doesn't mean incest

@yeetspelledwro1 Literally the worst Yakuza game is like. A 6/10. And even then that's a good as game. If the entire series was ONLY my least favorite Yakuza game I'd still love it
