I got threatened to be fired after 2 weeks due to “work speed” but ended up working there for 8 years. It was miserable, I ended up having panic attacks because of it and had to get anxiety meds and therapy. I was constantly treated like I was lucky to have the job, like they were doing me a favor. After 8 years they “eliminated” my position by separating my tasks and putting them on 3 other people. For 10 months I was without work and then I finally found another job as a Barista. There I worked for 2.3 years and became trusted in a semi Managerial position. It healed my self doubt. Now I’m about to leave that job on my own terms for a better paying job and my current manager is praising me, saying how he hopes I’ll come back eventually because of how well I do. The Life Lesson I took from this all that took me 10 years to learn is that You are not a failure. You are simply in the wrong environment. Don’t settle, keep being hungry, keep striving for what suites you because you’re better than you may think; and you deserve better!
