Speaking as an American, you guys had the cooler battleships.
Japanese naval doctrine from Tsushima to the onset of WWII was dedicated to seeking out a single, decisive engagement that would be won with overwhelming firepower.
This led to the creation of ships that were twice as large as the Tennessee that you see here. The Yamato’s guns for example remain the largest ever to be mounted on a warship to this very day.

@zeke_22 Something similar, though with less weaponry: the ship beside the Alabama is Crane Ship No. 1, which was converted from the pre-dreadnought battleship USS Kearsarge (BB-5).
