Question to my kidlit friends who make picture books. I'm hearing that a lot of authors are being asked which illustrators they would like to work with as opposed to the old method where the publisher picks the illustrator for the manuscript. Are you all seeing more of this?

Today I learned Peter Cushing played Darcy in a 1950s tv adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I would really like to see that version - Cushing is nowhere near my image of Darcy, but he was such a strong actor, I’m 900% sure he would have rocked it.
