The UofL Creative Writing Program is excited to announce the results of the 2024 Calvino Prize in Fabulist Fiction, judged by Elizabeth Crane. The Winner is David Morse for his story “The Memoir” and the runner up is Kira Nolan’s “Kelp Forest Love Story.”

The next Axton reading is next Thursday. Layli Long Soldier will read her poetry at the Speed Art Museum. The day after she will lead a Generative Writing Session. Both events are free and open to the public so please come by! Read more here: louisville.edu/axton

Mark your calendars for the first Axton Reading of the semester with Anjali Singh! On September 12th at 7:00pm, Anjali Singh will give a talk on literary publishing. The next day at 10:00am, she will lead a discussion on literary editing.

The Creative Writing Program is sponsoring the 2nd annual Poetry Carnival hosted by Sarabande Books. The free carnival starts at noon on Sept. 14 and will feature poet Paige Lewis. This is a great chance to get an inside look into a publisher’s offices.
