5 years ago today, Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released on HBO Max — a movie powered by fans. According to Variety, it was the fourth most-streamed film of 2021, while The Wrap reported it as the second most-pirated movie that year. It also became the most pre-booked film on India’s BookMyShow at the time and racked up 320 million views on China’s Migu Video within just seven days. Former WB President Priya Dogra even called it a “global phenomenon.” My point is — fans can unite like this and achieve incredible things, even with a divided fandom. Imagine how powerful we could be if we were truly united. DC fans keep fighting over different versions of the same character. What they don’t understand is that characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman go beyond a single interpretation. We can appreciate Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill, and David Corenswet at the same time — they are all different interpretations of the same character. If you don’t love one version, maybe it’s just not for you. But you don’t have the right to force others to hate something or get triggered when someone loves something you don’t. DCU fans?
