To our veterans living in Pueblo and the surrounding area, the PFC James Dunn VA Clinic Imaging Department will be closed, Thursday and Friday, March 26-27, due to staffing. Normal imaging operations are anticipated to resume on March 30. Patients who need imaging services may either go to the PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic in Colorado Springs and utilize their imaging services or wait until normal imaging operations resume at the Dunn VA Clinic. If emergent images are needed, discuss a community care consult with your provider.

Daniel Leal-Diaz, the VA ECHCS Community Engagement & Partnership Coordinator for the Suicide Prevention Team at RMR was at the Denver Central Public Library to host a table at their Community Resource event, as part of suicide prevention outreach, on Feb 17. More than 150 people attended the event. Gun locks and others suicide materials were distributed to the community as well as providing suicide prevention information and resources. The responses of the community were very positive, applauding the VA in their efforts of reaching Veterans wherever they are. Thanks to Daniel for spread this valuable information and great recourses to our community.

The Battlefield Acupuncture walk-in clinic at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center will be closed today, Monday, March 9. We apologize for any inconvenience. VA Eastern Colorado is recruiting veterans who are experiencing, PTSD-related nightmares to participate in a research study to help us understand if improving sleep quality, by reducing the impact of nightmares, can improve cardiovascular health. To be eligible for the study, veterans must experience repetitive nightmares related to PTSD and be between the ages of 22 and 88 years old. The planned weekend maintenance on the North Gate here at Rocky Mountain Regional Medical Center is scheduled to take place for the next two weekends of Feb. 21-22 and Feb. 28-March 1. Due to this scheduled maintenance, use of the North Parking garage (PVN) on those weekends will be prohibited. Please do not leave your car in the North Parking Garage over Friday night, Feb. 20. The South gate, underground parking garage, will be available those weekends for patients and visitors.

Last week was VA's National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, which is observed each year during the week of Valentine's Day, a day of caring and sharing which underscores the Salute's expression of honor and appreciation to inpatient and outpatient Veterans. This year’s observance for National Salute to Veteran Patients Week was Feb. 8-14. The National Salute to Veteran Patients Week is held annually as a call-to-action from the community to honor veterans through volunteerism, donations, and visitation, which aligns with VA’s mission of putting veterans first. Check the pictures below from last week's National Salute at VA Eastern Colorado, when our inpatient veterans enjoyed visits from Boy Team Charity 8th Graders, Mayor Mike Coffman and senior leaders from Space Base Delta 2, located at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora.
