Today VMind celebrates the 137th birthday of Hugo Steinhaus, Polish mathematician and co-discoverer in 1927 of the Banach-Steinhaus theorem, one of the cornerstones of functional analysis, along with Stefan Banach. The result implies the Uniform Boundedness principle: for continuous linear operators between Banach spaces, 'pointwise-boundedness' is equivalent to uniform boundedness.
