Badika Denis Mykhailovych (20.07.2000 – 31.03.2022) Senior Lieutenant, Pilot-Navigator of the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade Denis was born in Vinnytsia. From childhood, he dreamed of the sky and prepared to enter the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University. He trained every day to pass the physical fitness exams. His first solo flight was on June 16, 2020, in a Mi-2 helicopter. At the start of the full-scale invasion, he, along with his comrades, evacuated helicopters from the Brody airfield and participated in the defense of Kyiv, where their actions halted the enemy’s advance and destroyed hostile equipment. In 2022, he carried out combat missions on a Mi-8: delivering ammunition and medical supplies to besieged Mariupol and evacuating the wounded from Azovstal. On March 31, 2022, his helicopter was shot down, and the entire crew perished. Denis was professional, responsible, and caring. His fellow soldiers remember him as a reliable officer, and his family cherishes his dedication, daily training, pursuit of his dream, and support of his loved ones. Farewell ceremonies for Denis were held on June 11, 2024. He is buried in the Alley of Glory at the Sabariv Cemetery in Vinnytsia. Posthumously, he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the “Golden Star,” the Honorary Distinction “For Courage and Bravery,” the Combatant Cross, and the Order “Hero’s Cross.” Denis gave his life for others. His courage, devotion, and bravery remain an enduring example of a true Hero.
