@davemeltzerWON Speaking of El Santo and Spain, here's a reminder that in the summer of 1965 an "El Santo" was wrestling all over Spain as a featured attraction on multiple shows every week (at bullrings for 10,000-20,000 people). Later in France too.

In the 45 years of the WON Awards, surprisingly only 8 winners have been gone on to be inducted in the WON HOF: Dr. Death Steve Williams The Road Warriors Jushin Liger Stone Cold Steve Austin Rey Mysterio Jr Jun Akiyama Perro Aguayo Jr Shingo Takagi.

Booker T comes on the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame ballot in 2026 after falling off the ballot in 2006 with less than 10% of the vote.

Takeshita joins the list of Will Ospreay, Samoa Joe, Davey Richards and Koji Kanemoto as the only wrestlers to win Most Outstanding and not in the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame.

This is the 4th time Tony Khan has won Best Booker in the WON Awards. The only other people that have won Best Booker 4 times or more and not in the WON HOF are Gabe Sapolsky and Jado.

Mistico joins Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Chris Jericho, Keiji Muto, & Kenny Omega as the only wrestlers to win the WON Wrestler of Year after being inducted into the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame.
