A toasty January day in #Phoenix! Sky Harbor hit 81º this afternoon, which ties the record for the day. Fun fact: the high temperature has been 81º or higher only 51 times during the month of January, going all the way back to 1896 (51 out of 4,044 observation days). #azwx

Brrr! Sub-zero temperatures showing up on the map this morning, with a current temperature of -1° at #WindowRock! #azwx

Snow! Plenty was left behind across #Arizona, and was clearly visible on satellite as clouds cleared today. You can already see it melting quickly as temperatures warmed this afternoon. #azwx

Notice the haze around the #Phoenix Valley today? It's from strong winds yesterday that produced large areas of blowing dust (especially across Southern California), which moved into the Valley overnight into this morning. #azwx

@drhenz_wx @maricopaflood MC Flood Control is great! Using ~190 guages in the urban area, get an avg monsoon total of 2.47", this year coming in at 2.58" for the "urban total". Also, this year looks like 30 "rain events" somewhere in the urban area, with the avg (1995-2024) being ~38 events Cool stuff!

@WeatherChitChat You also should expand your data beyond just Phoenix Sky Harbor. We (@maricopaflood) operate 367 rain gages with full records across Maricopa County, 150+ across the greater Phoenix Valley. #Monsoon storms are so isolated & the Valley so big, one spot rarely tells the full story

#Phoenix Sky Harbor picked up 0.21" today, bringing the #Monsoon2025 total to 2.76"! Even though it will be recorded in the books as a "wet" monsoon, the departure from average rainfall has been below zero since July 9th (finally flipped to above average yesterday). #azwx

Not something you see everyday in the Valley of the Sun. A little wall cloud moving over #Phoenix, #Arizona earlier today (around 1115am). #azwx

Did you feel a little chilly this afternoon in #Phoenix? The low temperature today (which occurred at 3:40pm, yes PM) was 67º! Coolest temperature since June 2nd, and also the first time we have seen a low temperature at/below 67º during the month of September since 2017. #azwx

UPDATE: Now 1.64" of rain at #Phoenix Sky Harbor so far today! #Monsoon2025 at the airport is now officially above average, as the season total is now 2.52". Just think, yesterday we were sitting 1.52" below average for the season! #azwx

#Phoenix Sky Harbor has picked up 1.11" of rain so far today! This is the most rain recorded at Sky Harbor in a single day since Oct 13, 2018. Rain today over doubled the #Monsoon 2025 today. Before today, it was 0.91", now it is 2.02"! #azwx

Notice the haze around portions of #Arizona this morning? It is all thanks to a large complex of thunderstorms that developed in #Mexico yesterday. As they collapsed, they sent a large outflow into the region (check out the "waves" coming out of the complex of storms). #azwx

A hot morning! Already 96° at #Phoenix Sky Harbor and it’s only 6am… The low was 94°, which broke the record warmest low temperature for the day (old record was 91°). #azwx

The #DragonBravoFire is now at 126,445 acres, making it the 7th largest wildfire in written #Arizona history. The largest is the #WallowFire, coming in at 538,049 acres back in 2011. #azwx #azfire

NEW RECORD: High so far today in #Phoenix has been 114º! This breaks the old record for the day of 113º set back in 2011. #azwx
