@WelshRugbyUnity
Calling for true regional rugby that includes the whole of Wales. Every club and fan equally. Fully integrated and aligned. We'd be so much stronger together.

@Worthingt7Grant @andygoosemoore @WelshRugbyUnion Of course not. Just fans who care passionately about Welsh rugby as a whole. Every club and every fan. We're hopelessly divided and there's only one system that can provide the kind of alignment that Andy Moore is quite rightly calling for...

We’ve never had true regional rugby in Wales – we’ve only tried an awkward halfway compromise between the old club system and a proper regional system. The current crisis is not the result of regional rugby being the wrong idea, but of failing to do it correctly at the outset...
English

One Nation. One Game. One Direction. Now Act.
We are the most passionate rugby nation in the world.
But we are not the most aligned.
Welsh rugby needs one direction. One system. One plan.
From grassroots to government.

@andygoosemoore Fantastic piece. 👍
There is ONLY ONE WAY that Welsh rugby can ever be truly "collective", "connected" and "aligned". And that's by working together on a true regional system at pro level that includes ALL OF WALES - and sits between our historic clubs and the national side.

English

@TheVietGwent @Oweninsouts If Wales can afford to keep 4 pro teams (highly unlikely) - then these should be true regional entities that include ALL OF WALES and sit between our historic clubs & the national side. There's nothing bold about persevering with the defective structure that caused this crisis.
English

@andy_harris75 @TheVietGwent Yes, the consultation was poor, but I'm not sure how useful a good consultation would have been anyway.
Most people just say WHAT THEY WANT - with no real focus on WHAT WOULD WORK.
"Yes, change is needed - and sacrifices need to be made - just not by me or my team."
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @TheVietGwent This is the biggest issue for me. The Welsh rugby consultation was incredibly poor. It seemed rush and exclusive. Lots of people had a voice, but lots of people left unheard
English

1. Having completely botched the resource concentration into 4 teams in 2003 & 2004, the WRU have put forward a complete bodge job of a proposed resource concentration into 3 teams in 2025-26.
2. Yet it is just so Welsh rugby that the ‘alternative plan’ is not even serious.

English

@TheVietGwent @andy_harris75 I'm also losing hope. Welsh rugby might be a lost cause now - and it's heartbreaking.
The game here is being killed by blinkered superclub extremists - stuck in the past - refusing to include the rest of Wales and work together properly on a pro system that's fit for purpose.
English

@andy_harris75 1. I don’t disagree with you.
2. That’s why I post less and less on the lost cause of Welsh rugby.
3. The only issue now is how long before the WRU lose their stadium to their bankers.
4. The only difference between the Collier-Keywood ‘plan’ & the Regan ‘plan’ is about 2 years.
English

Well - That is a utter bonkers plan. Did Moffett create it ?
1) Ignore the structural issues in Welsh rugby that do not include Valleys as a core rugby region.
2) Exclude North Wales as if do not exist.
3) Ignore the crazy pathway issues that means Mid Glam has no SRC club.

Details emerge for bold alternative Welsh rugby plan that would keep four sides | @Steffan_Thomas1 walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/ru…
English

@ccurts2 @CelticWarrior_3 @FabioPerini123 These loyalties cannot be built on. These 4 brands have had 23 years to grow - yet all 4 fanbases are too small. There's no room for growth.
We either have to get people to support new entities (hard, but possible) or switch allegiance to historic rivals (basically impossible).
English

@CelticWarrior_3 @FabioPerini123 @WelshRugbyUnity Nobody will support brand new entities either.
Much better to build on existing loyalties than to trash them and start from scratch.
That’s a basic marketing principle right?
English

@Big_Tige @FabioPerini123 Sorry, but that's just not possible. We desperately need to improve the player development pathways - and we won't have the money to do this while we keep 4 pro teams. We can only improve the pathways, employ top quality coaches, upgrade training facilities etc if we reduce to 3.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @FabioPerini123 God sake.Stop the gravy train. Fund 4 teams properly, coach them professionally and stop paying ordinary players, big boys wages.
English

@FabioPerini123 @CelticWarrior_3 100%. The current 4 team system excludes more Welsh rugby fans than it includes. Just culling the Ospreys makes that huge problem even worse. Restructuring to form 3 regions between clubs & country is the only workable solution - and anyone who opposes it is killing Welsh rugby.
English

@CelticWarrior_3 @WelshRugbyUnity Yes agree, that's why the 3 team model if that's the only way ie if it's Scarlets, Cardiff and Dragons will never work
English

@Huw86361670 @FabioPerini123 Because we want the debate to focus on the issues, not on people. We don't want notoriety. We don't want personal abuse. This isn't about individuals or personality or anything like that. It's about structure, efficiency and economic common sense. Stop holding Welsh rugby back.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @FabioPerini123 So location and budget queries are silly questions🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻there’s no hope is there
Why don’t you reveal who you are instead of hiding behind the cloak of anonymity
English

@Huw86361670 @FabioPerini123 Didn't say they're unimportant. Budgets will clearly be larger. Squads will clearly be stronger. At least 2 out of the 4 locations in the South will remain. But adding a team up North means the entire country will have a pro team within sensible travelling time. Wake up.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @FabioPerini123 So budgets/locations are unimportant…
Whaw….great economic logic there mate
Why don’t you and Robins the Lapdog be honest and admit that what you want is a team based in Ponty
English
Project Reunion รีทวีตแล้ว

@FabioPerini123 Sadly, that is the reality. Continuing with 4 is totally out of the question. And the sooner everyone accepts that the better.
Then we can start sensibly discussing how to reduce to 3.
East, West & North is by far the best option for a coherent 3 team system. 👍
English

@Huw86361670 @FabioPerini123 You've been repeatedly foul-mouthed & abusive. You've added nothing useful to the debate. You've been asked many times to stop obstructing with silly questions. The specifics about (larger) budgets & (stronger) squads don’t change the core argument about inclusion & efficiency.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @FabioPerini123 Yet again we ask you for clarity on the following….budget, locations, squad make-up ….been asking for details for about 12 months now so 🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻
English

@thetrosk 3 teams would be better than 4.
Rebranding to form inclusive entities would be better than sticking closely to historic club brands. All historic clubs should be semi-pro or below.
2 South & 1 North would be better than all 3 down South. Let’s include every part of Wales.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity Genuine question. So if The WRU decided on three teams and they were rebranded to West Wales Raiders, South Wales Capitals and Gwent Steelers would that be what you want? Same cities, same teams but a rebranding?
English

🚨 The WRU has today announced the establishment of its new Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
A key milestone in delivering the ‘Crys I Bawb’ EDI Strategy & strengthening the organisation’s commitment to representing & reflecting the diverse communities of Wales. 🤝

@WelshRugbyUnion Would be nice if all Welsh clubs and fans were treated equally.
Would be nice if every part of Wales was fairly included by true regional teams at professional level.
When will you be making an honest public statement about this kind of equality and inclusion please?
English

@thetrosk @c64kmjhtg @PhoenixRugbyRFC I agree. But the simple point remains that we cannot support 4 - in terms of money or players. And we’re not developing rugby in North Wales as much as we could (or should) be. I’d be totally happy with EAST playing in Cardiff or Newport & WEST in Swansea or Llanelli.
English

@WelshRugbyUnity @c64kmjhtg @PhoenixRugbyRFC And I’ve said multiple times clubs have to play somewhere, I wouldn’t care if the identities of the existing regions change. However, the four current sites make the most sense in terms of facilities and infrastructure
English

@c64kmjhtg @thetrosk @PhoenixRugbyRFC He’s totally misrepresented what I’ve said. I’ve never said clubs like Merthyr or Llandovery should be removed from the top of the club tier. Only that no historic club or heritage brand should be at fully professional level - blocking a true regional tier and alienating fans.
English

@thetrosk @WelshRugbyUnity @PhoenixRugbyRFC I’ve got a lot of time for Llandovery RFC. Superb history and excellent link up with the local public school (college), who have been consistently one of the best production lines in Wales
