I'll be the guy to say it. Halo Infinite Spartans look like toddlers who found crayons compared to actual Halo Spartans. Nothing against this person in particular and I'm happy they found their look they like. I disagree with this art direction, and the playercount does too.

@Leon_220406 @Rookie_425 This is why I don't keep twitter on my phone anymore, make one good point and tards will flock. The graphical fidelity of a game in 2007 being better than a game released in 2021 is an issue.
People in 2026 are saying Halo Infinite looks bad for its age, and Halo 3 looks good.

@AMPLICITY @mistaferrari been a fan for a couple years now. this has been one of the most fun projects ive ever followed in the Halo community by far. The 1st Delta Ring was a blast with friends, and I can't wait to try this with the boys tonight.

@Kitsune_Tojiro they really understood how to make textures that withstood the test of time. They aren't the best by any means, but it still looks like a modern game and its 20 years old.

@benoski73 Some of these players started this game when they were like 20 or 30, these people are 40+ years old now.
They just want the game they were sold with a new suit of paint. The "broader audience" doesn't exist when you're a household name like Halo.

As the artist behind the image you shared in this post, I think it's rather disingeniune to say "The art direction is why people don't play Infinite anymore."
The art direction was never the problem with Infinite. It's the lack of content and how they handled customization.

@Leon_220406 @DecepticonCobra Youre ignoring that fact that the prior buit into a style and the latter tried to branch out. The issue isn't even the visuals themselves, it's the fact that the people who have created them have ostracized themselves visually from their own legacy.

When every fuckin' Halo game has different art style. Halo 2 is different from CE, Halo 3 is different from 2, Halo 4 is different from 3, Halo 5 is not THAT different from 4, and Infinite is different from 5. There's no such thing as "Graphical fidelity"

You can pretty much actually make most of those Spartans in your picture in Halo Infinite. Yeah, people can make cringy Spartans, but pretending the art style only supports that or encourages that is disingenuous.

@NomadicAllo @bigfarter228 @ErnestoBustos19 Models made with textures that process well through the engine is the answer you are looking for. Good devs make good games when they work with the same engine for years. That is why Halo 3 is so great and why the textures have held up for so long.
