At my local liberal elite coffee shop a millennial woman is in tears because she can’t afford private school tuition. She’s on speakerphone so everyone hears. She qualifies for food stamps. Every millennial I know is absolutely addicted to travel to foreign nations. WTF. They talk about it like it’s a human right. Why the F can’t she put her kids into her Subaru and drive them to Florida like a normal person? Or the thousands of great coastal vacation spots between Bar Harbor Maine and Key West. Why is nobody suggesting this to her? And it’s not just her. My millennial friends who have money are constantly jumping on planes overseas. Like if they go more than two months without travel they start freaking out. I’m generation x. I don’t get it. Someone please explain this to me in crayons. I mean I love traveling too but holy crap does it get expensive fast. Are these people all just in crazy debt?

Great question. District court in Tazwell already ruled against this for multiple infringements, but Virginia Supreme Court would not stay the referendum. Instead they decided to rule AFTER the election. Remember judges on Va Supreme Court are appointed by legislature for 12 year terms. A few judges are up in the next couple years. Too much CyA instead of doing the right thing.

I learned this earlier today... Virginia Code § 30-19.9 states that ballot explanations must be written in plain English, must be neutral, and must not include arguments from either side. In other words, the wording presented to voters is not supposed to persuade, influence, or push voters toward a yes or no vote — it is supposed to simply explain what the amendment does. If we are going to follow the Constitution and the law, then the rules should apply to everyone — including the people writing the ballot questions. Neutral means neutral. Not persuasive. Not political. Not biased. Just the facts so the voters can decide. Official wording of the redistricting amendment is... “Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?” Does that sound neutral, non-persuasive, non-influential? Since this ballot question goes against current law, can Virginians sue to have it removed/overturned??? Any lawyers want to weigh in on this?
