@YBasally

Opinions not mine. Not even opinions, just random words I string together to sounds like bad sentences.

@ZoltanSEC @SimonViklund What do you mean "hashes longer than 8-10 chars"? For example, the SHA hash algorithm is just a really big number, regardless of how long the password is - measured in orders of magnitude, not character length.

When a database is leaked its usually only the hashed response to the password, not the actual password. So they will run offline brute force attacks on the hash. The longer and more complex the password, harder it is to crash the hash. Most wont even try on hashes longer then 8-10 chars because its exponentially harder

Can we PLEASE for the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY just STOP IT with the password complexity criteria already? We all know the highest risk is that the service itself leaks the password in a security breach, and then what use is the complexity?

@Memesandmkts @inneroperator This is what happens when you have location, data, wi-fi, bluetooth, and every other permission on by default for every app. That's not a good way to use your device, even if it's convenient.

#OPSEC365 007/365 Security questions aren't secure. They're public records and social media trivia. Your mother's maiden name is on genealogy sites. Your first pet's name is in a Facebook post from 2012. Your high school mascot is one Google search away. Anyone doing basic research on you can answer these questions as easily as you can. Go check what security questions protect your most important accounts and ask yourself who else could answer them.

BREAKING - A woman in Cambridge, Maryland is going viral after hiring a roofing company she knew employed illegals, only to call ICE after the job was completed, with agents arriving on scene and arresting six Guatemalan illegals working on the crew.

🔥🚨BREAKING: This mother who is also an influencer was arrested for faking her own kidnapping in an attempt to gain more followers in Brazil. Monniky Fraga, 27, was arrested almost a year after telling her legion of 48,000 followers she and her husband Lucas were confronted by three armed bandits in their car outside their home before being taken to the woods, held hostage and forced to pay ransom.

This is absolutely insane! How the hell did we even get to this point? A grandmother was thrown out of a public meeting because she read lines from a book that are in school libraries. The words were too graphic for adults, but perfectly OK for kids? Wtf

This woman is trying to order Chinese food from her local restaurant. She claims she has celiac disease and insists on gluten free items only. She even requests that the food be prepared separately from where the normal food is prepared, and that all surfaces including the woks be scrubbed with soap and water before they cook her food separately. The restaurant replies that they can make her a gluten free meal but they don’t have the time to thoroughly scrub down everything just to make one meal. You can tell she’s irritated they said no, but is her expectations to accommodate her condition realistic?

@YBasally @philofsurprises @klara_sjo You implied inferiority here even if it’s not what you intended. And if you didn’t intend the infer inferiority then I question why you bothered to post at all.
Yare Basally@YBasally

@philofsurprises @klara_sjo If you've ever studied a foreign language, you should know that hearing ≠ understanding ≠ reading ≠ speaking ≠ writing. They engage different areas of the brain. So "technically" sure, but certainly not literally.

@YBasally @philofsurprises @klara_sjo The brain-region differences are real (visual word form area for reading vs bilateral temporal for listening), but comprehension & retention are essentially equivalent for audiobooks vs text. Shifting from 'different process' to implying inferiority is a real goalpost move.

@joshuaguerci @philofsurprises @klara_sjo (1) Reading engages the left fusiform gyrus for orthographic processing and visual decoding (2) Listening engages bilateral superior and middle temporal cortex regions (3) Traditional and audio books require different brain functions. (1) and (2), therefore (3).

@YBasally @philofsurprises @klara_sjo Your argument was “hearing is not understanding” in context of an English speaker listening to someone speak Spanish. Thats great and all but I listen to audio books in my own native language so your point is invalid. Do yourself a favor, learn how to communicate more clearly.
