This painting depicts Sheriff James Brian Jr. He served as the Sheriff of York County from 1836 to 1840 and again from 1844 to 1848. This painting was sold at an estate sale in Rock Hill about ten years ago. If you own this painting, we would like to make a better copy for our historical archives.
