@Rosewood_Farm @YNET4 The Greens are an urban party. If you don't know nature you don't really love and value it as Attenborough has said. Whilst access is good there are studies to show if you don't stick to the path, person with camera or dog, breeding birds are interfered with and driven away.

We were visited by one of our local recorders in the office this week in preparation for some exciting work analysing farmland bird transect survey data from the Wolds. Together our job will be to see what we can infer of their abundance, distribution, and habitat preference 🪶

Seriously? A mass trespass in nesting season??? How can the right to roamers not realise it is a horrific policy for nature? @guyshrubsole @paulpowlesland please tell me that the press go this wrong and you are not planing a mass trespass? @OurSacredGrove fyi
Paul Tout@adriawildlife

Asking @paulpowlesland whether he thinks mass tresspasses of undisturbed private woodland in March & April are a great idea? (Mainly as he's cited on R2R as "representing nature".) R2R's "Nature" policy *still* "forthcoming". Four years now. theguardian.com/environment/20…

An excellent contribution on the Sustainable Farming Incentive from Cat; "The option supporting a very rare habitat that needed a summer visit by an adviser to endorse its existence, (which couldn’t happen due to the abrupt closure of the scheme) OBVIOUSLY had a low uptake."

I’ve picked apart the mess of subsidies for species rich grasslands in England… It’s not a feel good story… In fact it’s a betrayal of careful old fashioned farming and biodiversity by the uk government. Makes me very sad tbh. scribehound.com/countryside/sh…

"Dirty Business creator on raw sewage scandal: ‘This is the worst possible situation we’ll accept without starting a revolution’." Maybe that's what it's going to take. One way or another govt is going to have to take its head out of the toilet and confront the ownership and financing of the water industry. There is no other option. independent.co.uk/arts-entertain…

It’s interesting that the Environment Agency are apparently interested in ‘nature recovery’, as on my river they are threatening to prosecute me for building a pond without a permit, whilst not prosecuting a single one of the serious illegal sewage spills that have been going on for decades. It’s all about priorities I guess?
Environment Agency@EnvAgency

50 land managers. 3,000 hectares. £100 million for nature recovery. 🌱 We're proud to have worked closely with project partners on the development the Evenlode Landscape Recovery project and are excited to see it move into the implementation phase with @naturalengland.

Bucket: £10 Waders: £30 Measuring jug: 90p Ammonia tester: £100 Actually going out to check a sewage outfall that illegally discharges 750,000,000 million litres of sewage every year? Priceless. There are some things a government regulator with a budget of £189,000,000 & 12,000 staff can’t do. For everything else, there’s volunteer river guardians.

Wildfire risk - new report by Ordnance Survey. I know you lot were all discussing: ordnancesurvey.co.uk/insights/how-l… Some key stats (borrowed from LinkedIn): That 7% of homes across Britain lie within a zone which is increasingly exposed to wildfire vulnerabilities due to climate change and human behaviour. - That over 1.8 million British homes sit within the first 100 metres of urban-rural edges. - And that Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, Essex, Kent, and Lancashire have the highest number of homes located within this 100 metre distance of urban edges. @stellastafford @MurrrrMurray @AlBuHarg @HenryBarber

One of only two Cherry Plum in Swaledale I know of (no others recorded) just coming into flower. Surely there are more? (Distribution map from plantatlas2020.org/atlas/2cd4p9h.…)

“The projected cost has ballooned to £300m–£400m as the scope of the works has expanded.” This is massively over inflated. Stop privatisation for profit. theguardian.com/business/2026/…
