For reference this morning, I was rewatching this game 3 from 23 years ago, when the #1 seed Pistons were in the process of losing again to go down 2-1 to 8th seeded Orlando. A lot of relevance here, plus a little foreshadowing.

@zariqxavier This is how they lost last season lmao. They played THJ & Beasley who shot like 20% from 3pt range. Sasser pretty much had the most playoff experience on the entire team last year. He lead Houston to a Final Four, Jerry West Award winner, AAC Player of the Year. He's bigtime.

Detroit has to consider getting Marcus Sasser some minutes. They need any self-creation they can get.

If I told you in a game where: -Ausar has maybe the best game of his life -Tobias has 23 and multiple big time buckets -Cade scores 12 in the fourth and gives a lead with two minutes left You’d think Detroit won. And there’s *multiple* reasons the didn’t. By far and away the #1 reason is Jalen Duren, who is supposed to be their secondary scorer and big man who dominates the paint, has completely fallen apart on offense. The trickle down effect on JB because he can’t trust Duren to be that guy right now is killer.

Just a demoralizing, crushing loss for the Pistons. The worst part about these losses to Orlando, is that Detroit has gotten straight up beat. Their signature defense failed them. Cade 4th quarter heroics, Ausar alien-like play, and a huge Tobias game was not enough. Too many simple mistakes, and losing the battle on the boards killed this team. Jalen Duren had key stops at the rim but was not able to get anything going offensively for the third straight game. Orlando isn’t a normal 8th seed, but there is simply no world where a 60 won team should be down 2-1 to an 8th seed. Teams up 2-1 win the series 80% of the time, Detroit does not have the numbers in their favor. Game 4 on Monday, Detroit cannot afford to lose.
