#bhmschat A3. For as long as I could remember at BHMS we have been doing anything we can to save kids that some would say are past the point of saving

@MikeDOstilio I feel like once a kid thinks you’re out to get them, game over. Doesn’t mean you can’t keep in the back of your mind what the child may have done, but allow them to feel like they have a clean slate and can do better next time.

As I reflect on this, I'm thinking about what @ZeoliC said about every day is a new day for a child. I think that is a culture I'd like to see throughout & to be the steward of that mindset. #bhmschat

#bhmschat I really like the term "fail" or "fall" forward. I think it conveys that recovery is always possible. Maybe the answer to this is working to help students engage in a dialogue with staff and peers to develop these skills

#bhmschat A2 It’s easy to sit quietly for an hour after school but owning up to mistakes and looking someone in the eye to talk and apologize is hard. It’s also a necessary life skill

A3 The ICR teacher needs to be allowed to modify and reteach as needed in order to meet the IEP goals, however this doesn’t need to interfere with the curriculum. It can be challenging pacing wise with an ICR class, but we always seem to get through.#bhmschat
