The switch up I’m seeing right now is actually disgusting. For YEARS Liam was the punching bag of this fandom. Not just a few jokes here and there, I’m talking full on targeted hate. Daily dragging, viral hate threads, edits made just to humiliate him, people twisting every interview he ever did just to make him look stupid. And let’s be honest about where a huge part of that energy came from. A big chunk of it came straight from Harry’s side of the fandom. Hating Liam became a personality trait. People built whole accounts around mocking him, calling him embarrassing, saying he was the worst member, laughing at his mental health, his sobriety, his struggles. You all watched that happen for years. Many of you participated in it. And now suddenly those exact same people are posting about how much they "miss Liam" because Harry said a few kind words about him. "It’s so difficult to lose a friend… the kindest heart who just wanted to be great." Harry didn’t suddenly turn Liam into that person. Liam was ALWAYS that person. The kindest heart. Someone who genuinely just wanted to be great. That didn’t magically appear the moment Harry said it. That’s who Liam was the entire time while half of this fandom treated him like a joke for internet points. So spare everyone the fake grief now. You spent years tearing him down, mocking him, turning him into a meme, encouraging hate trains and laughing while people ripped him apart online. And now suddenly you want to act emotional and respectful because one of his bandmates reminded you he was actually a good human being? That’s not love. That’s guilt and hypocrisy. The people who actually cared about Liam didn’t suddenly discover empathy because Harry spoke about him. We defended him when it wasn’t popular. We supported him while the rest of the internet thought bullying him was funny. Most of you only learned to respect Liam after he passed.
