@UCL_SBB @Arts_Wales_ 💰The report also found that investment through ACW delivers £11.08 for every £1 spent in health, wellbeing, and productivity benefits. 🫟 The evidence is clear. The direction is positive. Now investment needs to match the arts’ role as the fifth pillar of health.

@UCL_SBB 🧮 The Welsh Government also published its budget — including a 7% increase in overall culture spending. But this uplift hasn’t reached everywhere: @Arts_Wales_ received standstill funding – leaving its budget 17% smaller in real terms than five years ago.

This week, two things happened for the arts in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 1️⃣ New evidence shows arts engagement delivers huge health and economic benefits 2️⃣ The Welsh budget signals growing recognition of that value 🧵👇

This can't reverse the damage to artists, cultural organisations and communities caused by the cuts in 2024. But we are encouraged by the boost to several areas of arts and culture spending – it's a step in the right direction 🧭

Yesterday, the Welsh Government published their final 2026-27 Budget, and increased culture investment for the second year on the trot 🐎
