This week I had the honor of giving the commencement speech at the United States Merchant Marine Academy graduation. Our country needs these great Americans now more than ever. They’ve persevered through a neglected and mismanaged academy for four years and are still as dedicated as ever to serving our great nation. They are key to reestablishing American maritime dominance. @USDOT and I are committed to restoring the United States Merchant Marine Academy to prominence and ensuring it delivers the best and brightest mariners in the industry🇺🇸

We carry the Battle Standard to represent the 142 midshipmen lost during WWII. Fact is we still send our Mids into areas of conflict during Sea Year, below is a picture from rising 1/C DB Caleb Green & 1/C DL Stephen Scroggins off the coast of Iran today.
