My friend went on a date last night. Said it was all great & whatever… the usual nyc basic mid Bill came and he said: “I love women who take initiative.” She said: “Split?” He said: “No no… ‘fully’ take initiative.” She paid for the whole bill ($150) She invited him back to her place… He’s never going to see her again lol

I remember when they first made April O'Neil black; I didn't post about it. At the time, it seemed silly to worry about cartoons when there were so many more important things happening. There have been several remakes of TMNT since then, including the recent Magic: The Gathering set, and she's been black in every single one. A reminder that these things only tend to go in one direction. I've since learned to never give an inch on anything, even if people call you unreasonable, racist, or make fun of you or whatever. Remember what they took from you.

@CapnKibs You could combine Phantom and AoTC into one tight movie, move some of the Padme romance to RoTS, then have a whole movie of Suited Vader finishing the purge and settling into his sith role

They didn't; they enjoyed these scenes. You're not showing the parts they genuinely disliked, the awkward Anakin scene with Padme, the annoying Jar Jar scenes. People expected better. Phantom Menace is Fun, but it is not good. Same with Attack of the Clones, Good scenes or moments, are diminished by bad pacing and build up. and I'm saying that as someone who "Enjoys" the prequels.

Because everything in this movie prior to it and everything in Star Wars movies that came after it suckled. And everyone stood in line for it for 3 hours only to be entertained for 12 minutes, like a roller coaster. I'm still on your side. Star Wars fans are stupid and this is when they should've walked away and said we're done.

@chriswithans You could get buy in on raising the cap say doubling or tripling it, if coupled with non sunset legislation that the Soc Sec Trust is financially firewalled from other federal spending

I'm fine with Democrats running on this silliness. Republicans should not. The cap exists because the formula for Social Security benefits tops out at $184,500 (adjusted for inflation annually). Lifting the cap without increasing benefits would be the largest tax increase in history by far, and it would hit the people most sensitive to tax increases. It's a very large and vocal group. There are no deductions available for social security taxes. You make $184,500 in wage income? You pay $22,878 in social security taxes. Doesn't matter if you're supporting a spouse and 10 children. You're paying $22,878. I am also enjoying Democrats finally counting the employer's 6.2% contribution as part of the tax. It's 12.4% of whatever you earn, not 6.2%. I'm glad they're admitting that.
Fuck You I Quit@fuckyouiquit

Every dollar earned below $184,500 a year has a Social Security tax of 12.4%. Everything after that cap is exempt. If we lift this cap on the wealthiest earners, Social Security would be fully funded till 2070. The cap should not exist.

Just had a spicy exchange at my front door: -Him- Hi we're gathering signatures for rent control. =Me= Rent control is one of the worst ideas in all of economics. Did you even google this? - Yes, and I studied economics actually. = You think a majority of economists think it's a good idea? - Yes actually. = That's not true. It lowers the supply of housing. Landlords don't have money to maintain units. - We'll force them to. = Cities with rent control are missing tens of thousands of units because upkeep isn't worth the money. - You think landlords can't afford it? = They have less money, it's just a business choice. Meanwhile, can you guess what I pay in property taxes? - No = Can you guess the ratio of my property taxes vs my 5 neighbors combined? - No = I pay literally double the next 5 houses combined. - Are you saying you can't afford that? = No, the city has less tax revenue for roads and schools and police. You could be trying to fix that. Have you heard of CEQA? - No, I don't know what that is = Please quit your job.

This is the current state of DHS negotiations: Senate Republicans have indicated that they will give Democrats the reforms they've demanded for ICE except the two poison pills: Masks and judicial warrants. In other words, Democrats will keep DHS shut down unless leftist mobs have the ability to threaten the families of ICE agents and illegal aliens have the green light to harm Americans before they become eligible for deportation.

Oh wow, Republicans voters are furious that Spanberger, et al are shamelessly and gleefully trying to disenfranchise them? Is it possible that liberal democrats didn't consider the second and third order effects of their own radical policies? I guess there's a first time for everything.

INSANE early in-person voting yesterday, with 21K Virginians casting a ballot. This is 101.7% of the same-day equivalent of early in-person voting last year; I'm no longer ruling out the possibility that we will see higher turnout than the 2025 election!

I’m about to get married, and my fiancé knows I have an inheritance that was left to me by my grandparents. It’s in my name only, and I’ve been saving it for years. Now he’s saying that before we get married, I should put the entire inheritance into a joint account so we can “start fresh together,” or he doesn’t think we should go through with the wedding. I’m 36 already and this is something my family worked hard to leave me. I’m torn between wanting to build a life together and feeling like I’m being pressured to give up something important to me. What do you think I should do? By isitmeaitah

Brandon Sanderson on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: "My end opinion of it was meh. I thought it was fairly mediocre. Some strong elements. Some very weak elements that I think are towing it down. And the good elements were mostly bungled, I felt. The big one for me is the Harfoots. The Harfoots, I feel, were just utterly bungled. ... In these last episodes there was a woman who comes to the guy in charge and says, ‘It’s time to execute them. Let’s take their wheels and make them die.’ Like what are you thinking? We do not need Hobbits talking about murdering other Hobbits. And this is our second time. It’s so baffling and then they only accept the Stranger in after he proves useful. There’s no big-heartedness to that. That is pure utilitarianism." Is he right?

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

If someone argues that a former promiscuous woman is "damaged goods" and questions whether a Christian young man should marry her, remember Rahab. She was a Canaanite prostitute but became a mother in the lineage of Jesus. God redeemed her, cleansed her, and Salmon married her.
