JUST IN: PCE inflation declined to 2.1% (y/y) in September — That’s the lowest since early 2021 and basically at the Fed’s 2% target. “Core PCE” (which excludes food and energy) remains at 2.7% for the past year. There was hope that would tick down as well, but it didn’t in September due to price increases in the service sector. The takeaway: Inflation continues to tick down slowly. There will be bumpiness and we saw it in September

Plenty of reasons to criticize “U.S. media.” But for several months, journalists from a wide range of news organizations have been covering how many former Trump cabinet members and staff oppose him and why. The McDonald’s stunt is a 12-hour blip that is already fading out.
