Today marks five years since the tragic murder of Sarah Everard. A crime that shocked our nation and sparked a painful but vital conversation about women’s safety on our streets and in our communities. We remember Sarah, honour her life, and stand in solidarity with her family and all those whose lives were forever changed. I am proud of the work we have done and continue to do in Hackney to ensure that our public spaces are safe for women and girls. Sarah's death must never be reduced to a mere moment in history. It remains a call to action, to challenge violence against women and girls, confront misogyny in all its forms, and keep working together to ensure women can live, walk, and flourish without fear. We remember. We reflect. And we reaffirm our commitment.
