Two weeks ago BEAM’s core team gathered in New Orleans to set intentions and strategic plans for 2025. During this time of such heightened tension, we know that our work of building collective power with Black therapists, healers and wellness advocates across the nation is critical work. The folks you see pictured here at our closing gratitude circle are the roots at BEAM, but they are by no means the only folks holding our work! Barbershops have been a space of healing for decades, and our barbers are our healers. We recently hosted a special edition of Black Masculinity (Re)imagined, where we conducted a mental health training for barbers. Providing a space for barbers to be vulnerable, discuss how mental health impacts their work, and distributing a few of our favorite tools and models was just what we needed. Mental health training for people who work with men and masculine folks, in non-conventional counseling settings is very important to the work that we do here at BEAM. We want to thank @Truemenbarbers for hosting this dynamic event and making this work possible. Our team is very proud of the work we were able to get done that day!

Election Anxiety is high all across the country. As we all navigate this environment, it’s important that we prioritize care and safety for our folks. Here are some tips to consider when navigating this season as well as strategies that we can collectively use to support ourselves. Share with friends and family and join us on Election Day for a series of guided meditations and sacred pauses to help us ground and root ourselves.

Our Emotionally Intelligent Leadership training is a sacred space where we come together to reimagine what it means to be a leader and how we can carry our communities forward. This healing circle, led by our Executive Director @YoloAkili was full of amazing folks from Detroit doing healing, education and advocacy work. Together we shared practices, insights and reflections to help us all show up with more care and resource ourselves and our loved ones. We love you Detroit! Want to learn more about our trainings? New Orleans showed up! This past week BEAM hosted a pull up with local Black therapists and healers in New Orleans to learn more about their work, how we can be in collaboration, and continue to resource them as a part of our national network. Representatives from organizations such as @NOLABMHM @blackwmndoheal The Bach Group and many more came through! As NOLA folks, we love ya Baybee! Grateful for the wisdom and power these folks hold.
