I saw this And drew this

In 1953, Guinea’s 🇬🇳 Camara Laye published The African Child (Le Infant Noir), a classic coming of age story in African literature. It is a semi autobiographical novel from Laye's perspective, following a young boy's childhood in a traditional West African setting and his journey into education and cultural identity. It was praised by critics for its simple language and vivid memory based storytelling. Laye wrote with deep nostalgia, capturing family life, culture and identity, and early education in French West Africa. His work became one of the first African novels many students encountered in school. I read it in my sophomore year in uni. His story still opens the door to African literature for many readers, especially lovers of the bildungsroman genre. I particularly enjoyed this novel because it was a fictional insight into Francophone West Africa. What was your favorite memory of the book? #AfroLit
