Three exciting things about sovereign usernames on Bitcoin known as @spacesprotocol
1⃣ Top level spaces (example: "@id") are on-chain assets. They are credibly neutral. Only 10 are released to auction per day. Auction winner burns BTC in order to claim then it's owned forever.

One cool thing about Utreexo is that you can "transfer validation" between devices. This QR code has everything you need to start a new node.
Imagine if you can sync a node on your computer, then load a QR code on your phone, and you just skip IBD completely on it.

You cannot stop metaprotocols on Bitcoin. It is not possible. All you can do is constrain them in ways that make the externalities they impose on the network as a whole more and more costly.

@jimmysong Your framing was incredibly misleading. I'd also argue that it actually reduces UTXO set bloat, so that point is incorrect as well.

Geez, I'm saying the UTXO bloat is going to get bigger because nothing is being done about the actual spam that's bloating it (inscriptions, et al), not that OP_RETURN outputs are in the UTXO set.

OP_RETURN outputs greater than 83 bytes will increase significantly, UTXO bloat will keep getting worse and there will be more garbage on chain.
This is going to age like a bad tattoo.

Naming is about converting hard to remember/read data into human readable format. Names are digital assets and should be decentralized, there is no need for third party control. Self-sovereign naming is so valuable to the world that it is inevitable

Release bdk_wallet 1.2.0 is out! TxBuilder::add_recipient function now accepts impls of Into<ScriptBuf>, coinbase outputs are eligible for selection if maturing in next block, and Wallets persisted with a rusqlite are thread-safe. github.com/bitcoindevkit/…
