@slyman1264@DylanTa99391947@patriotic_giant@purplepingers My point is that no watches are ethically sourced because cobalt and tantalum and tungsten supply chains are involved in conflict. But if consumers decided to value ethics above a low price, then those supply chains would adjust. But currently consumers value low cost, not ethics
@_dehydration_@DylanTa99391947@patriotic_giant@purplepingers Dunno and you’d have to do research to know. However that doesn’t change we should improve and stop exploiting poor people into slavery for profit. But yes most people tend to not care about ethics anymore unfortunately
@_dehydration_@patriotic_giant@purplepingers Title he gave himself while this is a testimony from ACTUAL engineers at spaceX btw. Sorry but the billionaire you love defending is actually a useless idiot AND sex offender (sexually assaulted his flight attendant) :((
@slyman1264@DylanTa99391947@patriotic_giant@purplepingers Really? Which smart watch is ethically sourced? But i do agree with you. If customers of products don’t care if it’s ethical or not, neither will the companies selling them. It would be ideal if that was not the case
@_dehydration_@DylanTa99391947@patriotic_giant@purplepingers You could buy a smart watch. Just one ethically mined and not entirely collected by exploiting child slaves. We live in the modern era and should work together to stop human suffering. This mentality prevents societal improvements
@Dmccallist21829@CassCityJ@ChadNotChud think of AI as less of a shovel, and more a machine that can make (or drastically lower the cost of making) shovels, or software, or other intellectually robust services.
@_dehydration_@CassCityJ@ChadNotChud For me, it's more of a mindset drift. I don't like the way people like you talk about AI because you speak of it like it's authoritative. But it's no more authoritative than a shovel. You can hit someone in the head with it, or use it to dig a fence post.
@Dmccallist21829@CassCityJ@ChadNotChud I believe it’s generative, but even if it’s not, it surely has favorable economics. Everyone wants free healthcare, but no one wants super cheap healthcare apparently. That’s what i believe this is.
@_dehydration_@CassCityJ@ChadNotChud Gang.. you're literally reinforcing his point without meaning to. It takes highly repetitive, patterned work that usually overwhelms humans with scale and does it efficiently. That doesn't mean it's generative. That makes it the inverse of a microscope.
@TotalDepravity0@joshthestampede@ChadNotChud I get that sentiment, but it is far more than just chat bots. Like alphafold for example. A real technology, powered by AI, that has contributed massively to the human race. With sufficient investment in tech, we theoretically could have moments like those every week or day.
@_dehydration_@joshthestampede@ChadNotChud I think he’s saying you’re putting the cart before the horse. What you’re saying AI will do sounds great, but what we have now are just advanced chat bots with internet search & image capabilities. There’s not really much sign that it’ll advance beyond that in the near term.
@joshthestampede@ChadNotChud you spoke of the technology as a guarantee: “when it’s here”, but the only way it arrives is if we invest in it. Tell me, what were you saying? Maybe i am misunderstanding.
@_dehydration_@joshthestampede@ChadNotChud You're too stupid to realize that the way you called it a fucking "tech tree" marks you dead to rights as part of a growing movement of smoothbrain gamer morons who think real life follows video game logic
@Jabbaslist@rebeccarightnow@ChadNotChud one can abstract away the mechanism by which these models work as much as they please. We’re all just matter after all, yet you and I are intelligent.
@Nthgnss1@ChadNotChud yes i would argue a sufficiently good LLM meets the criteria for intelligence. Frontier models clearly possess intelligence, or at least have the ability to generate intelligent responses.
@EndTheDeathCult@joshthestampede@ChadNotChud watch out everyone we got the Etymology Enforcer over here. The word police has arrived. Stand down people, our linguistics liaison has arrived.
@CassCityJ@ChadNotChudQure.ai’s TB screening. AI deployed across 2,600+ sites in 67 countries, 12% increase in TB notifications at peripheral hospitals, results delivered in under three minutes versus hours.
@CassCityJ@ChadNotChud Distributed intelligence will allow a doctor to diagnose 100x the issues at 100x the accuracy, saving costs and lives. Is that sufficient?
