@cunhaflucas @_dkrip There are plenty of people (myself included sometimes) who think maybe reviews would be better off without scores, but the feedback we get from readers is that they find that score super helpful, so it stays. It is what it is.

This shouldn't be controversial. The Crimson Desert I played was absolutely a 6/10 for all the reasons listed in my review.
The developer has since made a whole bunch of changes to the game, so a re-review is probably warranted.

Travis Northup, the IGN reviewer who gave Crimson Desert a 6 and Marathon a 9, is asking his editor for a re-review. He is busy getting into fights with people on X about his scores. He eventually concedes that Crimson Desert deserves another review and claims to have asked his editor for another crack at it.

But as a game reviewer, your reviews shape the buying decisions of many people.
Marathon's issues hit the fundamental gameplay loop very hard. That's why your 9/10 comes across as biased rather than pure subjective taste.

@_dkrip To be fair, I tend to focus on the stuff I didn't like in reviews because I am, by nature, a pretty whiney guy. Sometimes I talk about games I adore and people get the impression I hate them, due to my Larry David levels of nitpickiness.

I read both reviews by IGN's Travis Northup, since I'm sick in bed and have nothing to do (someone else might do a better job lol)
I picked out a lot of contradictions and a clear bias.
For Marathon, in the review,
He criticizes the game's UI and Inventory system heavily.
He also mentions the game's bad onboarding experience, confusing menus,
He even calls the movement frustrating early on in the game.
All that for a 1-point deduction.
Not an expert on game reviews, but it seems like he was heavily forgiving of Marathon's shortcomings, but did not extend the same courtesy to Crimson Desert. Shouldn't reviewers be unbiased?
